Think of your front forks as air cylinders – because that is exactly what these trick little air pistons turn your front forks into after installed. Insert the air piston(s) right underneath your fork caps, run an air line into the cap, and watch as the piston holds air pressure between the cap and piston to create your air ride. (Notice: you cannot actually “watch” the air pressure, fork must be reassembled to factory specs).
Have we lost you yet? Basically, the piston acts as a seal, which, in turn, holds air pressure throughout the negative space of your fork. A special valve, at the bottom side of the piston, allows air to be pushed back up into the top of the fork without letting air into the bottom (near the dampener).
